A PUBLIC consultation event on proposals to redevelop part of the old Parker Knoll factory site off London Road in Chipping Norton will be held on Wednesday, November 16.

The event, at the Crown and Cushion Hotel, High Street, will run between 1pm and 8pm, and is open to all.

Simons Group is proposing to create a new small-scale Marks and Spencer food hall and three other shop units on the northern part of the old factory site.

The plans, which represent an investment of £4m, also include three apartments above one of the shop units. Overall, Simons Group’s plans for the site could create over 50 new jobs.

Graeme Cosgrove, group director of development at Simons Group said: “We’re very excited to be bringing forward plans to build a Marks and Spencer foodhall.

“Our plans will create around 50 new jobs, give local people another reason to shop in Chipping Norton, and boost the local economy.

“To ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to look over our plans and offer us their feedback, we’re running the public consultation event, and I look forward to meeting local people and sharing our proposals with them.”

Alongside the consultation event, in the coming days, thousands of leaflets will be distributed across Chipping Norton, and the plans will be made available at parkerknollregeneration.com.

McCarthy and Stone will consult separately on its plans for the southern portion of the site in the coming weeks and more information will be released shortly about this second consultation event.
