THE University of Worcester may already have waved goodbye to all of its students for the summer, but last week it was re-awakened with the annual garden party.

About 90 guests were invited to the celebration, usually held in the university grounds but forced inside due to a rare appearance of poor weather over the last fortnight, as a way of saying thank you for their contributions and support of the university in the last 12 months.

Mayor of Worcester Mike Layland and the Very Reverend Peter Atkinson, the Dean of Worcester, attended the garden party, along with everal other dignitaries.

A university spokesman said: “We were pleased with the turnout.

“It was just a shame the weather let us down and it had to be held inside this year.

“There is also a get-together planned for next month to thank the professors and lecturers for all their hard work over the year at the university.”
