ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984-SECTION 14(1)(a) AND MOTORWAYS TRAFFIC (ENGLAND AND WALES) REGULATIONS 1982 THE M5 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 9-11) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the M5 motorway between junctions 9 and 11 in the County of Gloucestershire to allow repairs to verge, drainage, barriers and carriageway to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place on or after 29 May 2017 and be completed by 29 August 2017.
The effect of the Order would be:
(a) to impose a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit on the northbound and southbound carriageways of the M5 between the Fiddington to Walton Cardiff Overbridge and the centre of M5 Junction 10;
(b)to authorise the overnight closure (between 8.00pm and 6.00am) of:
(i) the northbound and southbound carriageway of the M5 between Junctions 9 and 11;
(ii) the southbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 9;
(iii) the northbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 10;
(iv) the northbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 11.
(c)to restrict vehicles over 2.5 metres in width to the nearside lanes of the section of the M5 described at (a) above.
There would also be hard shoulder running and
lane closures through the works.
The restrictions would not apply to emergency
service or special forces vehicles.
During the carriageway closure described at (b)
(i), (ii) and (iv) above, traffic would be diverted
via M5 Junction 8, the M50, A417, A40 and M5
During the closure described at (b)(iii) traffic would be diverted via the A38 to M5 Junction 9. The temporary mandatory speed limit, slip road closures, lane closures, width restriction, hard shoulder running and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works period and would only apply when traffic management measures are in place. The Order would come into force on 27 May 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
