Statutory Notice - Further and Higher Education Act Section 33N

This notice is given by the Corporation of Worcester Sixth Form College in accordance with The Sixth Form College Corporations (Publication of Proposals) (England) Regulations 2012 No. 1158.

Worcester Sixth Form College hereby gives notice in accordance with the provisions of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 (the Act) of the proposal Worcester Sixth Form College (Spetchley Road, Worcester, WR5 2LU) be dissolved and the transfer of the property, rights, assets and liabilities to Hereford Sixth Form College Academy Trust (registered address: Folly Lane, Hereford, Herefordshire, United Kingdom, HR1 1LU; Company number: 10499174).
Dissolution of Worcester Sixth Form College is proposed at the request of the Corporation in order that Worcester Sixth Form College, a sixth form college, can be replaced with Worcester Sixth Form College, a 16-19 academy. This academy will be a part of Hereford Sixth Form College Academy Trust, a multi-academy trust, subject to gaining the appropriate permissions for the change of status of the Trust.

Worcester Sixth Form College provides sixth form education including A Levels, Applied General and Technical qualifications at Level 2 and Level 3 and a small number of GCSEs including Mathematics and English courses principally for 16-18 year old students. The current number of full-time 16-18 year old students is 1370, and the number of full-time 19 year old students is 26. There are no part-time 16-18 students and the number of part-time 19 year old students is 3. The total number of full-time students is, therefore, 1396 and the number of part-time students is 3, the overall number being 1399.

The proposed dissolution date of Worcester Sixth Form College as a sixth-form college and the creation of Worcester Sixth Form College, a 16-19 academy is 1st April 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter subject to the appropriate permissions. All students currently attending Worcester Sixth Form College will continue their education as currently planned and there are no plans to change the college's provision.
