HIS voice can often be heard around the city centre - and now a well-known busker has revealed how much he makes in a day.

Sporting a Dastan suit, Darian Johnstone was busking just outside the Crowngate shopping centre this morning (Friday).

The singer was keeping people entertained as they soaked up the sun over a morning coffee with their friends.

As Good Friday shoppers made their way across Broad Street they were soundtracked by Mr Johnstone singing Valley For Me by Elvis Presley.

The 47-year-old says singing has been his day job for the past four years and he travels up and down the country to do it.

He said busking is his passion but also has a part-time job that helps him pay the rent.

"I usually earn between £40 and £70 but on a good day I can earn up to £100."

Worcester News:

Mr Johnstone said: "I was busking in Gloucester yesterday and today I'm in Worcester.

"I enjoy travelling the country to busk.

"I just like to cheer people up, it's not about the money for me."

The singer managed to engage his audience and received some cash from generous onlookers, all while frequently checking his phone for the lyrics to the song he was singing.

He usually performs jazz and blues songs and his performance is obviously very popular with families dropping donations in his tin.

"I know that not everyone likes music, but it does cheer people.

"If I could go sing in Ukraine and cheer people up, I would go."
