FAIRY tales will provide the basis of "A Celebration of Music Storytelling" at Worcester's Huntingdon Hall, and that's no fable.
As part of the Worcester Festival, narrator and singer Ben Humphrey will join the International Orchestra of Elgar Country "for a celebration of the power of musical storytelling".
The spokesman added: "Affecting settings of beloved stories by Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm complement Prokofiev's evergreen Peter and the Wolf. It promises to be a magical afternoon of family entertainment for listeners of all ages.
"Ben is currently Artistic Director of the Swan Youth Theatre and Associate Director of the Worcester Repertory Company as well as a senior council member for the Guild of Drama Adjudicators and Lecturer in Voice and Performance at the University of Worcester."
The spokesman added: "Conductor Kenneth Woods has worked with a large number of orchestral groups such as National Symphony Orchestra (USA), Royal Philharmonic, Budapest Festival Orchestra, and English Chamber Orchestra to name but a few. He himself is a cellist and composer as well as a very talented conductor.
"The afternoon’s programme comprises Williams – Hedwig's Flight (Theme from Harry Potter); Woods – The Ugly Duckling; Smith – The Bremen Town Musicians; Prokofiev – Peter and the Wolf; and Newman – You've Got a Friend in Me (Theme from Toy Story)."
The date for the diary is Saturday, August 26, from 3.30pm.
