A WORCESTER housewife accused of sex offences against children had indulged in “monumentally stupid” behaviour on the night of a friend’s 50th birthday party, her barrister told a jury.

Amanda Wheeler had got very drunk and had bought an under-age youth alcohol – but she had not abused any youngster, said Samantha Forsyth.

She said Wheeler was “disgusted” by the thought of child sex and had left the party in November last year to go home and tell her husband what had happened.

Miss Forsyth said she accepted she lied to police about a one-night stand with a 19-year-old youth on another occasion but did so because she feared its impact on her marriage.

The prosecution alleges Wheeler had sex with a 15-year-old boy and carried out sex acts on two other boys.

Mother-of-three Wheeler, aged 31, of Goodrest Walk, Rainbow Hill, denies one count of sexual assault and five counts of sexual activity with children.

On day 12 of the trial at Worcester Crown Court, Miss Forsyth said the part-time cleaner had “forever” had a drink problem but had only been in trouble once when she was found drunk in charge of a car six years ago.

She said one boy had lied about his age to open a Facebook account.

The trial continues.
