POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to about a burglary at a school in Malvern this week.

During school hours on Monday, specifically between 11.30am and 3.45pm, someone entered Malvern St James girls’ school and stole a handbag from an office in the basement area of the building.

Items from the handbag were found later in a toilet at Malvern Theatres.

Between 12.35pm and 12.55pm an unidentified man was caught on the school’s CCTV and police would like to speak to him about the stolen handbag.

PC Sarah Smith from Malvern Police Station is investigating the incident. She said: “We are liaising with the management at both Malvern St James and Malvern Theatres about the theft.

“Part of that has been to view the available CCTV and we spotted this man on the school premises, but no-one at the school can identify him or why he would be in the building.

“If you recognise the man, please contact the police. Also, if you are the person in the image, please get in touch with the police if you had a legitimate reason to be at Malvern St James on Monday.”

PC Smith can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please quote the reference number 462s 11/02/13.
