JLS fans have been sharing their upset after the chart toppers announced they would be calling it a day after a farewell album and tour.

Amid an outpouring of upset - as well as plenty of apathy - fans of the four-piece were rocked by the news that their scheduled tour which stops at the LG Arena in December would be their last.

Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes, J.B. Gill and Aston Merrygold have hit the number one spot five times after coming second in 2008’s X Factor to Alexandra Burke.

The band said they had agonised over the decision for months but this morning it was the fans doing the agonising as they prepared to say goodbye to JLS for good.

Sharon Proctor, from Brickfields, said her 12-year-old daughter Chloe was besotted by the band and was upset when she broke the news to her.

Chloe saw JLS twice last year and her mum had already booked VIP tickets for the LG Arena gig in December as a Christmas present.

Miss Proctor - who prefers rock music - said: “I’m not a fan myself but I kind of got dragged along last year and was quite surprised because they put on a good show .

“We bought her the tickets and gave her to them on her birthday which was the same day as the gig and she just couldn’t believe it.

“To be honest, I thought it would cure her of her JLS addiction but it just kind of made things worse so we got tickets for her to watch the show again with her sister.”

Demand for tickets for the final tour has gone through the roof following the announcement but despite this Miss Proctor said that should she sell them her daughter “would divorce her”.

Chloe’s mother, who also watched Guns n Roses and Bon Jovi last year and will see Meat Loaf’s farewell tour in a couple of weeks, said she can understand why young girls are upset.

“At the end of the day, we have all been there and followed bands who have split up and it is upsetting, especially for girls.

“I can remember when Take That broke up and some of my friends were really upset.

“It’s understandable when someone has followed a band, watched their concerts, spent hundreds of pounds on merchandise and then they split up.

“What’s wrong with them being a bit upset?”
