THE Worcester News has gone back in time to launch its strategy for the future.

All this week, town crier Peder Nielsen will be in the city centre, announcing our fabulous relaunch.

The Worcester News has undergone a major transformation, with 52 extra pages each week, more news sport, education and business pages, revamped leisure sections and three brand-new lifestyle pullouts - including today’s Your Health and tomorrow's Your Life.

To pay for the changes - including extra journalists - and make the paper more sustainable for the future, the price has risen to 65p.

Editor Peter John said: “Local newspapers have had a hard time in the current economic climate and I’m very proud that we are facing that challenge head on by investing and providing a better paper for our readers and the communities we serve.

“No-one wants to increase their pricing at the moment, but we think the price is still very fair and the paper very good value for money. 65p does not buy you a lot these days, certainly not a cup of coffee of half a pint of beer, let alone a pint.”

As Worcester does not have a town crier, Mr Nielsen was hired from Bromyard.

* All this week your Worcester News will be in Bell Square, CrownGate, to talk to readers about the changes and give away free samples of the paper. Come and see us and tell us what you think.
