IT was glasses raised all round when the Probus Club of Worcester celebrated its 40th anniversary with a lunch at Boughton Park Golf and Country Club.
Club welfare secretary John Mason said: “We had a most enjoyable lunch followed by a toast to the club by our past secretary and long-serving member Dick Hill.
“This was followed by a loyal toast from our chairman Steve Dowling, who is shortly to stand down this autumn and finally a vote of thanks was given for the staff who had provided such a splendid meal for our big occasion. Everyone had a really great time.”
Probus, which is a “senior” version of Rotary, is aimed at people who have retired from professional full-time employment and appreciate interesting talks and stimulating conversations.
There are now five clubs in Worcester with another just outside the city boundary at Claines.
