RAIL services in Worcestershire have been disrupted after cables were vandalised near Droitwich.

British Transport Police were called at 10.30am this morning to Old Rectory Lane, Hampton Lovett, after nearly 140 metres of cable were cut.

Officers are currently on the scene checking for forensics are carrying out searches in the area.

Police will also be visiting scrap yards in the area to see if anything has been taken in and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman said: "If anybody has see anything suspicious around the railway this morning they should call 0800 40 50 40 quoting incident number 192 of the 23 August 2013."

London Midland services between Worcester Foregate Street and Kidderminster are expected to be disrupted for the rest of the day after problems started at about 5am this morning.

However Network West Midlands, Metro and Chiltern Railways are accepting London Midland tickets.

Rail replacement bus services are running from Kidderminster and Worcester Foregate Street.

Services to Worcester Shrub Hill are not affected.
