THERE was no sting in the tail for playful children trying to enjoy some time outdoors.
A blackboard sign warning users of the presence of wasps feeding on nectar was placed near a tree at the centre of the Gheluvelt Park play area by Worcester City Council’s parks team on Monday, August 5.
The advisory warning was put up as a precaution, although no nest was present in the tree and the sign was removed without incident about a week later.
A spokesman for the city council said the action was taken to make the public aware of the situation due to its proximity to the play equipment being used by children.
