THE Worcester News Jobs and Careers Fair, in association with Bright Assessing Ltd, will take place at the Guildhall, Worcester, on Thursday, September 19.

Following the success of the previous fair held in March, this established event, now in its 11th year, continues to give local jobseekers the chance to gather information on a variety of local employment opportunities and training and educational courses.

The fair will welcome a record number of exhibitors both new and previous alike. Richard Hencher, Worcester News recruitment manager, said: “This jobs and careers event will be the biggest we have ever hosted, with 24 exhibitors in attendance.

“We are anticipating more than 1,000 local jobseekers to attend on the day. This event is always well attended and receives lots of positive feedback and success stories from jobseekers and exhibitors.”

This year’s events are again sponsored by Bright Assessing Ltd, which specialises in training people to become NVQ assessors. It is exhibiting again following its success at the previous event in 2011 and 2012.

Samantha Thwaites, marketing manager said: “Bright exhibited at our first careers fair in Worcester in September, 2011, which was really successful for us. Last year we had more than 80 enquiries into our assessing course on the day from people who were looking for a job or a new career, many of whom had experienced rejection after rejection and felt we had provided them with a lifeline! Following the fair, 10 people have registered on to our assessing course which we will be helping into work as soon as they have completed the course.”

There will be a wide range of local companies exhibiting at the fair and they will be on hand to talk about various career opportunities including vacancies, training courses, further education, apprenticeships and business start-ups. Jobseekers will also be able to receive advice from Claire Sharp on how to create a perfect CV. The country’s largest housing provider, Sanctuary Group, are a returning exhibitor and have a range of roles for talented and motivated people. They are also offering free employability sessions to give general advice and guidance on how to apply for a job. Jobseekers can register for them.

Other exhibitors include West Mercia Police, Kanes Foods, which manufactures food for Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda, which is recruiting for its four factories. The retail sector will be represented by Aldi and there will also be opportunities in health and social care, fostercare and childcare. The armed forces will be represented by the British Army.

The fair will be open from 10am until 4pm and admission is free. To view video footage from previous events and for travel information, visit worcesternews.co.uk/jc. For the full event preview, remember to buy the Worcester News on Wednesday, September 18.
