SLIMMERS in Worcester hoping to fulfil a new year’s resolution to lose weight are being invited to join others with the same goal.

A set of Weight Watchers groups have begun at St Andrew’s Methodist Church, in Pump Street, just in time to help those who want to drop a few pounds in 2014.

The four groups are led by Worcester resident Dawn Copper, who lost nine stone in less than two years.

She said she was looking forward to using her own example to show others how beneficial weight loss can be.

“I was inspired to be a leader by the support of others at the meetings and wanted to give something back,” she said.

“A lot of people have resolved to lose weight so I hope we can help them.”

The Mayor of Worcester, Coun Pat Agar, called in to the inaugural meeting on Saturday, which was also attended by representatives from Worcester Foodbank and Kitsons Pharmacy in Broad Street, and has thrown her support behind the programme.

Meetings are held every Friday at 10am, 12.30pm and 5.15pm and every Saturday at 10am.
