A MAN admitted being drunk and disorderly after he tried to assault a man he said he had attacked him first.
Lee Francis, aged 26, of Copsewood Avenue, Worcester, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Chicks restaurant on New Year's Day when he appeared before city magistrates.
Clare Linehan, prosecuting, said Francis was told to leave the area at around 1am by police before officers were called to reports of disorder at Chicks 20 minutes later.
Ms Linehan said: "The officer described him gritting his teeth in an aggressive manner. He attempted to headbutt another male while he still had ahold of his top." Francis was described as 'unsteady on his feet' and as having 'glazed' eyes because of the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the floor outside Chicks and arrested.
Francis, who represented himself, said he accepted that version of events. He said: "I was basically assaulted outside on the taxi rank by the male I was aggressive towards in Chicks." He said he came around 'dazed' from being punched to the head. He said he did not press any charges for the original assault against him. He said: "I think we were both intoxicated. I do apologise for what happened. I can't recall being advised to go home." He was fined £150, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
