A MAN has been arrested after a security guard suffered serious head injuries in an incident at a Marks & Spencer store in Worcestershire.
Police said the security worker was airlifted to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital after being injured at the Weavers Wharf retail park in Kidderminster.
No-one else is being sought in connection with the incident, which happened at about 11am this morning.
Superintendent Kevin Purcell, of West Mercia Police, said: "This inquiry is at a very early stage and we are trying to ascertain what happened.
"The incident took place in a busy shopping environment and we are aware there were a number of people in the vicinity, some of whom may not have realised the significance of what they saw."
Anyone with information about what happened at the store or on a nearby car park is urged to contact Kidderminster CID on 101.
A spokesman for M&S said: "We are working closely with West Mercia Police to assist with their inquiries, and wish our security guard a speedy recovery."
