SCHOOLCHILDREN taking part in a charity's sunflower growing competition can get free tips and advice from a gardening expert.
The competition is part of charity Bibic's Smile Campaign and will see youngsters up to 16 years old attempt to grow the sunflower with the fattest face.
Peter Burks, horticultural advisor for online garden centre potterandrest.co.uk, has put together some top tips on growing the plant on the charity's Facebook page.
Bibic helps children and young people with conditions affecting their social, communication and learning abilities.
It costs £1 to enter and parents, guardians or teachers can order a packet of seeds, while stocks last, for £1 from www.potterandrest.co.uk/collections/sow-your-own/products/sunflower-competition-seeds.
An entry form can also be downloaded from http://bit.ly/1nIzzKp.
