CHILDREN of Dines Green Community Primary School were the first to try out the new play equipment near the area's community centre.

The year five pupils marked their last day of the school year by testing out the equipment on the play area, located next to The Green Centre, in Dines Green, when it was officially unveiled on Tuesday, July 22.

The £50,000 refurbishment was paid for by Worcester City Council, and carried out by its Cleaner and Green team, and now sports new slides, swings, rocking and rotating equipment which are suitable for both toddlers and juniors.

Stephen Gough, head teacher of Dines Green Community Primary School who is set to retire at the end of August, said: "I think it is wonderful to see something that has been needed for a long time come to fruition.

"I'm really pleased for the families in the area."

Anne-Marie Allen, youth and community worker with Worcester Community Trust at The Green Centre, said: "The new play area has been really busy since it opened and it’s fantastic to see so many families using it”

“Worcester Community Trust is feeling very positive about all the new changes on the Dines Green estate."

In celebration of the new-look play area, and the impending community cafe to be built at the new community centre, there will be a garden celebration event.

There will be a bouncy castle, zumba workshops, crafts, local talent shows and refreshments and is scheduled to go ahead on Tuesday, August 19, from 12pm until 3pm at The Green Centre.
