EVENTS are to be held in the Vale village of Badsey over the first two weekends in September telling the story of life in the area during the First World War.
Organised by the Badsey Society, they will draw on accounts in the Evesham Journal and parish magazines of the period, as well as family stories illustrated by artefacts and photos passed down through generations. There will also be poetry, short talks, tales from the trenches, and community singing of many popular WW1 songs.
Also on Friday , September 12 there will be re-enactments of letters sent to the Sladden Family of Seward House in1914, telling the story of how life was for this monied family of brewers and how the outbreak of war affected them.
The village events take place over Saturday and Sunday, September 6-7 and 13-14 and all will be held in St James church, Badsey. Anyone with family memories, photos or artefacts of the period are asked to contact Chris Smith on 01386 830217.
