A group of men men attacked a lock and main locking system at the Co-operative Food store, Old Street, Upton-upon-Severn.
The attempted burglary with intent to steal took place on Friday between 12.10am and 12.30am.
The padlock of the rear compound was cut off.
A witness saw three or four people with a silver grey coloured Golf style car.
The men made a lot of noise before leaving the scene.
When the store was inspected, the lock and the main locking system on the rear door was found to have been attacked and two bins were brought to the scene to carry away items.
It is thought the men were alerted or worried by something and left before they could gain entry but there was clear evidence they intended to steal from the store.
Anyone with information should call the non-emergency police number 101 quoting reference number 0018S 220814.
