RESIDENTS and staff at a Worcester care home donned their most eye-catching clothes in support of a campaign raising money for a new breast cancer unit last week.

Regent Residential Home in St John's held the Wear it Pink day on Friday, October 24 to raise more than £40 for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign and Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.

The home's activities leader Abbie Prosser said: “A number of our residents have battled breast cancer and everybody knows someone who has been affected by this disease, so these are charities which are extremely close to all our hearts.

“We had an enormous amount of fun raising money for such a worthwhile cause, supporting two very important local charities helping local people.”

The Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign is working to raise £1.8 million to build the life-saving unit in Worcester. Earlier this month it was revealed only another £33,000 was needed for building work to begin.

The cash will go towards the Breast Unit Campaign and Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, the two charities being supported by special event Strictly Worcestershire to be held at the Chateau Impney in Droitwich next May.
