EIGHTY pupils from a Worcester primary school celebrated Breakfast Week.

The youngsters from Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Primary arrived at school by 8.15am and were served breakfast by the school staff team.

The 'Shake Up Your Wake Up' campaign was to highlight the importance of having a substantial breakfast and the positive impact this can have on children's learning.

At the end of the week teachers were asked whether the campaign had had an impact on the children who attended.

Overall the teachers noticed that the majority of children'sconcentration, attitude, energy and interaction with peers had improved. Headteacher Gwen Fennell said: "It was a great family atmosphere and amazing to see pupils happy, engaged and arriving to school on time.

"It was such a positive start to the day.

"I would like to thank Kirsti Dawe and Angela Whishart for initiating Breakfast Week and all the staff who helped in any way who gave up each morning to make this experience a successful one.

"The school would also like to thank Darren Bodycote, manager of St John's Sainsbury's and his team for donating all the breakfast items for this event."
