BUDDING young police officers are invited to find out how they can get an early start on a career in the force the next week.
Members of West Mercia Police Cadets will be on hand at the Love Your Home shop in CrownGate from 10am until 3pm for three days from Thursday, February 19.
The voluntary scheme is open to any school pupils in West Mercia currently in year 11 and due to start college, an apprenticeship or employment in September.
Activities include marching, fitness, team building, role playing and talks by a range of guest speakers.
During the two-year programme cadets work towards a Level Two Award in Leadership and Team Skills from the Institute of Leadership and Management.
Sergeant Brian Gibbs said: “This is a great opportunity for young people to get involved in a scheme in which they can use their time valuably, find out more about the police and learn important skills whilst making new friends and having fun.”
Recruitment for the next batch of cadets, to begin in September, is open until Monday, February 23.
Applicants must be able to attend weekly meetings and commit to 15 hours of voluntary work every three months.
