Thirty-two Worcester children and their families raised money for charity in Worcester Woods Country Park yesterday (March 19) by participating in a giant wiggly conga.

The conga was organised by Action for Children and was based on the well-known children’s book The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

The event, sponsored by Cawston Press, got under-fives to wiggle along in a conga like a caterpillar, as well as encouraging them help others and feeding their imaginations through storytelling and other activities.

Sue Rogers, Head of Services for Worcester City Early Help, a support service delivered by Action for Children, said: “The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a firm favourite at our children’s centres so we were really excited to host a Giant Wiggle.”

A spokeswoman for Action for Children said: “The day went very well with all the families greatly enjoying themselves.

“The children had great fun catching fruit for the caterpillar in the wooded area.

“We were thrilled to be part of a great national day out.”
