A SPRING show held in the village of Martley has been hailed as a great success.
The event, which was organised by the Martley and District Horticultural Society, took place at Martley Memorial Hall on Saturday (March 28) from 2pm to 3.30pm.
It featured about 170 entries in 30 competition classes ranging from potted plants to floral arrangements, as well as a charity raffle, photography contest and small plant sale.
Mike Dunnet, chairman of the society, said: “People thoroughly enjoyed visiting the show – it was a great event.
“Besides the daffodils category, we had more entries in every category than the year before.
“About 180 people came along and there was very much a community feel.
“All entries were assessed by a judge and first, second and third place prizes were given out.”
The event raised £90 in the afternoon for the Multiple Sclerosis Society through a charity raffle.
Children from Martley CE Primary School also participated in the show by entering a handwriting and pot decorating competition.
