WORCESTER is ‘one to watch’ the head of a property developer which has promised to build 175 new homes in the city has said.

Seven Capital is working on transforming the former Midlands Electricity Board building in Blackpole Road into 75 luxury apartments and also plans to build 100 more in Broomhall Way, St Peter’s.

Managing director of the Birmingham firm Phil Carlin said he believed Worcester is becoming increasing popular as a place to live.

“The area’s quality of life is a significant pull factor for many, with its heritage, bustling retail and green landscapes drawing more people to the area,” he said.

“Alongside its close proximity to Birmingham, and its growth as a business destination, Worcester is fast becoming one to watch in the property world.”

He added the company was hoping to be able to add another 200 to the homes it was planning to build in Worcester soon.

Once the £10 million conversion is completed – expected to be in October – Bridgewater House will contain 55 one-bedroom apartments as well as 19 with two bedrooms and one studio apartment, almost half of which have already sold.
