A NEW health and fitness campaign aimed at getting children active and having fun is being launched in Hereford and Worcester.

The Great Big Bounce, an initiative which has been organised by the national charity Caudwell Children, is hoping to leave children bouncing high this summer.

The charity aims to help change the world for special children by providing life-changing equipment, therapies, treatments and dying-wish holidays, has helped children with more than 100 different types of illness and conditions.

Working in partnership with Sport England, the charity wants as many schools youth clubs, community centres and nurseries to organise a sponsored bounce to help a child in their local area.

It is a campaign which can be adapted to include children of any disability as activities can be anything from bouncing a ball, skipping, space hopper grand prix or trampolining.

To date more than 3,000 children from schools across the UK have signed up.

Trudi Beswick, chief executive of Caudwell Children, said: "The Great Big Bounce is a national initiative which challenges all parents to give their children the best start in life by getting them active while at the same time changing attitudes and breaking down barriers between disabled and non disabled children."
