RIK Mayall is back in his home county next month.

Reprising his role as Alan B'Stard, Mayall, who grew up in Worcestershire and attended the King's School, Worcester, will be treading the boards of Malvern Theatres.

The New Statesman will see the deliciously devious, slimy and deceitful B'Stard - now one of the shining stars of New Labour - stalking the corridors of power and leaving a trail of devastation in his wake.

Still impeccably pinstriped and with nose aloft, he might have a country to run but he is far more concerned with joining the Trillionaires Club. Condoleezza Rice has the key, but the questions is, will she allow B'Stard access all areas?

The New Statesman, came about after Mayall, whose parents still live in Droitwich, invited Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran to concoct a vehicle for him.

The show is at Malvern from Monday, May 14, to Saturday, May 19. Tickets, priced £18 - £26, can be booked online at www.malvern-theatres.co.uk or from the box office 01684 892277.
