SEVERAL new members have been elected to the Droitwich Youth Council from Westacre and Witton Middle Schools.
The six new members from years five, six, and seven at the schools were welcomed to the youth council during the latest meeting at St Richard’s House, with parents and teachers attending to hear them give their maiden speeches, covering the manifestos they were elected on.
The speeches covered their hopes for Droitwich, including everything from the need for a brine baths, sports shops, youth centre, cinema and skate park in the town, to launching more campaigns to promote recycling and stop littering.
The youth council chairman, Sam Heywood, said: “The new youth councillors were excellent, they spoke so well and with so much passion and contributed their thoughts and ideas throughout the meeting, we will look forward to working with them.”
All six of the new councillors’ manifestos are available to read on the Witton and Westacre websites.
