AN AMATEUR theatre troupe has appealed to Worcester residents to lend their pieces of iconic 1970s memorabilia for use in their latest show.

The Swan Theatre Amateur Company will be performing Mike Leigh’s dark comedy Abigail’s Party at the venue in The Moors for five days from Tuesday, October 27 and have appealed for help to make the set look as authentic as possible.

The show’s director Tony Childs said the group were particularly interested in getting hold of a fibre optic lamp and a record player stereo system.

“We are putting together the scenery but there are some key bits of memorabilia from the 1970s we’d be really interested to hear if people can lend us," he said.

“We’re looking for a classically 1970s clock – what that would look like I’ve got no idea – as well as LPs, pictures and ornaments from the time.

“We want to make it look like a front room from the 1970s.”

All items will be taken care of and returned once the show is finished, and owners of anything used in the show will get a free ticket to its opening night.
