PEOPLE in Worcestershire are being urged to help a good cause that has gone viral through social media.

The Helping Handbags Worldwide project - which gives handbags filled with sanitary and hygiene products to women in crisis - began with a simple Facebook post in October.

It quickly grew to a network of 40 regional coordinators across the UK - and Helen Courtney, the representative for Worcestershire, is urging people to get involved.

She said: "We are asking people to find an unwanted handbag and fill it with sanitary and hygiene projects and take it to their nearest donation station.

"These bags will then be delivered to homeless women and ladies in crisis on or before December 19."
