A PRISONER committed suicide while in his cell, a coroner has concluded.

Wayne Ellis died at HMP Long Lartin in South Littleton, near Evesham.

Mr Ellis committed suicide, the coroner concluded, by taking an overdose of tramadol between 8.30pm on January 17 and 8.30am the following day at HMP Long Lartin in cell 2288 (Foxtrot Wing).

The medical causes of death were given as 'tramadol toxicity' and 'haemorrhage from incised wounds of the left wrist, exacerbated by anticoagulant therapy for prosthetic heart valve and Marfan syndrome'.

The inquest into the death of the 37-year-old was closed at Worcestershire Coroner's Court on Tuesday (December 15).
