JASON Derulo's appearance at a Worcester nightclub left some fans scratching their head after he announced "Hello Wolverhampton".

The American R&B singer, whose hits include Talk Dirty and Ridin' Solo, was hosting his afterparty at Tramps following his concert in Birmingham's Barclaycard Arena on Saturday.

About 1,300 people packed out the nightclub but some fans were left disappointed claiming he arrived late, only danced on the balcony "for fifteen minutes", mistakenly called Worcester "Wolverhampton" then disappeared.

The appearance of the star was a major coup for the city nightspot who announced the appearance to much excitement earlier this month.

Dean Hill said the majority of those at the Angel Place venue enjoyed themselves but said he was disheartened that a minority felt disappointed.

"He did arrive a little bit later. We expected him at 2.30am but he got there about 2.50am which wasn't too bad it was just transport issues.

"When he got here his DJ went straight on stage, he was on from 3am, then Jason went onto the VIP balcony before coming onto the stage dancing.

"People have complained he didn't perform but we said from the start he wouldn't be, it was an afterparty.

"We spend a lot of money bringing new things to Worcester like Snoop Dogg and Jason to raise the profile of Worcester.

"Unfortunately, you are probably going to have a few people who are not satisfied.

"We had 1,300 people in and have had positive feedback so it is only a few people complaining.

"Jason and his entourage were here until 4.10am, he was on stage a lot longer than ten to 15 minutes.

"I think it was fantastic for the city and attracts more people to come to Worcester - I only see it as a positive.

"We have made a big investment to bring big names to the city which is why it is disheartening to see a few people didn't enjoy the experience."

One of those who has asked to be refunded is Laura Clifton, from Malvern, who said she booked early bird tickets for her and three friends costing £8 each plus an online booking fee.

"We thought it would be a good way to finish the night after we went to his concert in Birmingham.

"It was a really great concert - it was just a pity Worcester was an absolute let down and ruined the night."

After getting a prime spot upstairs, the women spotted Derulo in the club at about 3.15am.

"The DJ shouted "Jason Derulo's in the house" but we were like "well, where is he?"

"When he did finally get on stage it was only for about ten or 15 minutes.

"He said "Hello Wolverhampton" and we were shouting "Worcester!" he didn't even know where he was.

"Maybe he should have gone to Wolverhampton instead.

"He danced behind his DJ Jae Murphy for most of it and just looked like he felt uncomfortable.

"There was quite a few people complaining, especially on Tramps' Facebook page.

"We wouldn't have been so bothered if he had actually hosted it and came in and said hello to everyone and told us he was going to handover to his DJ and would be back down later.

"He didn't even say goodbye.

"He's a massive star in America, massive over here but everyone was just disappointed.

"When Tramps had the X Factor rejects it was really well organised and they would have paid a lot of money to have him appear for him to be visible for only half an hour.

"It wasn't worth it."

The four women asked for their money back on the night and have since made a complaint to the club online.

On the nightclub's Facebook page, Kate Mcginley wrote: "What a waste of time. 2 hrs late for a start paid the extra for vip, that was pointless.

"Very disappointed to pay £20 to watch him dance to a justin bieber song with his mates for 5 mins...

"Wasted everyone's time, never seen a place clear so quickly with disappointment!!!"

However, Abii Ward added: "I thought it was great from his entourage area... #JustSayin."

The nightclub was due to have an appearance from Fuse ODG tonight (Monday).
