Caci non surgical facials are rumoured to be a popular choice among the celebrities, STEPHANIE PREECE popped along to Andrew Slater Hair and Beauty in Malvern to see what all the fuss was about.

IT's easy to laugh at the celebs and their efforts to stay forever young.

We have all seen pictures of famous people, their foreheads frozen in time, their lips pumped beyond belief and their eyebrows stuck in an expression of permanent surprise.

But the truth is that growing old is not much fun.

It's not so easy to grow old gracefully when every time you look in the mirror you spot another grey hair or wrinkle.

I'd argue that it's not just vanity, feeling good about ourselves gives us self-confidence and improves our mood.

There's little more depressing than watching the years tick by.

Few of us would seriously consider going under the knife and even fewer will probably ever have the spare cash.

But there are treatments available which promise to slow the ageing process and to help preserve our youthful glow.

One such treatment is the Caci non-surgical facial.

Caci stands for Computer Aided Cosmetology Instrument, and is pronounced Kay-Cee.

The treatment involves micro-currents of electricity being applied to the different muscles of the face.

Imagine it as a work-out for the face, but without the sweat or effort.

The small currents of electricity are applied via various sized rods and probes and the treatment promises to tone up the facial muscles, decrease visible lines and dark circles and encourage cell-renewal.

The first thing to say is that it doesn't hurt. The idea of using electricity might sound pretty scary, but it really isn't.

The most you feel is a slight tightness or tingling, but it's minimal.

My therapist Claire Ramdehal immediately put me at ease, her years of experience meant that she was very knowledgeable about the treatment and was able to reassure me from the moment I arrived.

You are lying down throughout the treatment and need only remove your top clothing - to allow easy access to the neck, chin and face.

Before the treatment Clare carried out a full consultation and skin mapping exercise to establish my skin type, daily cleaning habits and any problem areas.

Once you have got used the sensation of the metal probes, which are held on the skin, it's really rather relaxing.

The session lasts up to 55 minutes.

Caci does not promise instant results. A course of 10 treatments is recommended, followed by top- up sessions every two months.

But even after one treatment my skin felt and looked smoother and tighter and other people commented on how well I looked.

There was a definite difference in the way my skin felt and I felt extremely relaxed and pampered at the end of it.

Getting old is inevitable but there are treatments like Caci out there that are definitely worth a try and can make it a lot more bearable.
