VISITORS from the US embassy have spoken to sixth formers at a Worcester school about climate change.

Ed Heartney, Isabella Kuliga and David Hartnoll visited Pershore High School.

Their visit was inspired by an article in The Times written by American ambassador Mathew Barzun about how the special relationship between the US and the UK could help save the planet.

Local resident David Train, a former Olympic coach, wrote to tell him about the a bell boating campaign in Worcestershire, inspired by Hawaiian boating culture, designed to promote everyone working together to tackle the problem.

At the well-attended presentation Ed Heartney told students that Ambassador Barzun, an historian, is passionate about spreading the message of the special relationship and had spoken to over one hundred sixth forms about it.

The school also told how almost every Pershore High pupil has taken part in bell boating.

The visit took place in March.
