BUSINESSES have set up a variety of exciting activities for visitors to enjoy at this month's Worcester Motor Festival.

The festival will feature 40 dealership cars, more than 100 vintage and classic cars and pop up painting workshops among other activities.

Two shopping arcades and 19 businesses are getting involved in the event this Saturday, May 14.

Businesses in Reindeer Court are joining forces to host the pit stop challenge, where anyone can take part in a simulated pit stop wheel change with prizes for the fastest contestants throughout the day.

A count the cars trail is also being held, the aim being to spot eight motoring themed windows retailers have decorated.

CrownGate Shopping Centre will host a realistic Formula 1 cockpit simulator, which will be housed in Chapel Walk near the entrance to House of Fraser.

Visitors can have a go and compete for prizes including two tickets to a British Touring Car Championship race, and two tickets to a Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb event.

Meanwhile, outside The Crown in Broad Street, members of the public can test their skills in a Scalextric race and Army Careers Centre will be putting on a display and providing the chance for people to try out their climbing wall in the Cornmarket.

Taking Shape in The Shambles is also running a best dressed competition for women who are wearing vintage clothes.

Nadja von Dahlen, from Worcester BID which has organised the event with support from the Worcester News, said: "We are delighted that more businesses than ever before are getting involved in the event.

"The Motor Festival is a very popular event among the businesses and the public. As well as raising the profile of the city and its businesses, the number of people in the city centre increases a lot and we are keen for businesses to benefit from that.

Mark Stewart, owner of Wise Owl Toys in Charles Street, added: "We are really looking forward to getting involved this year – the event creates a great atmosphere and such events help to put Worcester and our great businesses on the map."
