RATHER a bare old photograph from 1985, but one that might bring back lots of memories for lots of folks.
Because it shows part of Worcester's long gone Newport Street bus station, the public transport terminus that was re-built under cover when CrownGate shopping centre was developed in the 1990s.
Until then bus passengers had gathered in all winds and weathers to huddle beneath the draughty concrete shelters waiting for the 144 double decker service to Malvern, the Midland Red's "motorway express" to Birmingham (rather exciting in an era when not all family cars were happy at a constant 70mph) or the single deckers to all points - and villages - west.
At peak times in the late afternoon, when the schools tipped out, the area was often a throng of pedestrians and busses, and looking back it was remarkable how few accidents there were.
