A man in his sixties with serious head and pelvic injuries has been rushed to hospital after a crash in Droitwich.

A crash involving a black BMW and a White Moped on the Worcester Road, Copcut Island going onto Roman Way happened at around 12.20pm today (June 10).

An air ambulance was in attendance, however, he was taken to hospital in a land ambulance.

The incident led to long traffic delays around Roman Way

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The rider of the moped, a man believed to be in his 60s, was lying on the road, near to a roundabout, when crews arrived.

“The man, who remained conscious throughout, had suffered serious injuries including a suspected fractured pelvis.

“He was assessed and treated at the scene, given pain relief and immobilised before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham by land ambulance. The doctor from the air ambulance travelled with the patient to continue treatment en-route.

“The hospital had been alerted to the man’s condition prior to arrival.”
