CATCHING practice at a Worcestershire cricket club took a surprising turn when a visitor turned up with a home-made 'bazooka'.
His contraption, made out of a plastic drainpipe and powered by ignited hairspray, fired a tennis ball high into the sky over the pitch at Bredon Cricket Club where a group of young players had been standing.
"Catch!" came the yell, but the ball had virtually vanished into the atmosphere.
The players were stunned for a moment, then there was a plucky but unsuccessful attempt to catch the ball when it reappeared from the heights.
Earlier in the day Bredon Cricket Club had hosted a Worcestershire over 60s XI, who had faced a Gloucestershire over 60s side.
