A YORKSHIRE Terrier has helped a local dogs trust to reach an annual landmark.

Five-year-old Missy became the 700th dog to be rehomed by Dogs Trust Evesham in this calendar year.

She arrived at the centre with an extremely matted, dirty coat and struggling to see through the mass of fur but she has been taken in by Dorothy Harrigan from Stratford-upon-Avon.

Dogs Trust Evesham rehoming centre manager, Chris Slight, said: “Poor Missy was one of the worst cases of matted fur we’d ever seen.

"Her eyes were obstructed and the overgrown matted fur clearly made her feel uncomfortable.

"After removing all that fur it was as if a different dog had been unveiled.

"It was heart-warming to see the transformation and it immediately became clear what a happy sweet girl she is.”

Ms Harrigan said: “We were looking to rehome a Yorkie as I had owned them previously and when I saw Missy she seemed so sweet, I knew she was the one for me.

"We haven’t had her long but it is safe to say she has settled right in and loves lots of fuss and cuddles.”
