A FITNESS class for elderly people in Worcester is aimed at encouraging people to get fit this year.

Although new years resolutions to be fitter often get dropped this month, the University of Worcester is encouraging people not to give up.

A weekly fitness class for people aged over 60 is running at the University of Worcester Arena, as well as the Riverside and McClelland centres.

A Friday morning men’ fitness session attracts more than 30 participants, while around 40 women attend a Wednesday morning class.

Fitness Coach Marc Scriven, from the University, said: “We are hoping to get more people involved and increase awareness of these sessions, which have already resulted in significant health gains for many attendees.”

Anyone interested in the men’s session is asked to email Mr Scriven at m.scriven@worc.ac.uk, while for the women’s email Dr Susie Hart on s.hart@worc.ac.uk.
