A GARDEN centre has raised a four figure sum for charity.

Laylocks Garden Centre in Worcester has raised £1,876 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity from a sunflower sale and a Santa's Grotto.

The garden centre decided this year to sell their own grown sunflowers as well as their annual Santa's Grotto so that they could raise more in their 25th anniversary year.

Michelle McCracken, Worcestershire fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity says: “Laylocks has been a fantastic supporter of the charity since 2011, and its field of sunflowers was a really lovely sight, which raised vital funds for our air ambulance operations.”

Once grown, each sunflower was sold to the public for just £1 each, and Cliff Wood who has worked at the garden centre for 30 years, visited the charity’s Strensham airbase, to present the donation to the aircrew.

Laylocks have re-seeded their fields with sunflowers seeds, in order to continue to raise funds for the charity in 2017.
