A BODY has been found in the river Severn at Holt Fleet.
Emergency services were called to the scene, at Holt Fleet Bridge, near Worcester, at around midday today (Friday).
It was initially thought a person had fallen into the water, but police have since confirmed a body has been found.
The ambulance service was called at 12.01pm to the scene, near the The Holt Fleet pub, with the fire service being alerted a few moments later.
Several fire crews and the boat rescue service were called to the scene, as well as police, ambulance, a rapid response paramedic and a paramedic area support officer.
A police spokesman said this afternoon that the body has not yet been identified, but is believed to be that of a male.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The man was retrieved from the water by the fire service.
“Sadly, it immediately became apparent that nothing could be done to save and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
It is not yet known how long the body had been in the river.
