AN AUTHOR will hold a book signing at the National Trust property which inspired her latest novel.

Visitors can meet Sara Downing at Croome, near Worcester, and get their copy of her book 'The Lost Boy' signed on Saturday, April 1.

"I love Croome and walk my dog there most days; it’s been a really inspirational place for me," said Ms Downing, who lives in Worcester.

"Although the story is entirely fictitious, its roots are in the history of the house and grounds, and I’ve tweaked one or two tales from former pupils when Croome was a school for boys, which they may recognise in the book."

The author has been writing since 2009, after giving up a career as a Chartered Accountant to raise her family, and published her first novel 'Head over Heels' in 2011.

‘The Lost Boy’ is a supernatural tale which tells the story of a country house – inspired by Croome – involving a mystery boy and a family secret.

"We are thrilled to be able to welcome Sara who will be signing copies of her book in the shop," said Tina King, Croome’s retail manager.

"Her book is a real talking point with our visitors with many of them wanting to know more about where she found her inspiration.

"We are really looking forward to meeting her and finding out more about how she came to write it."
