THE team behind Worcester's Race For Life were in the city centre on Saturday, drumming up support for the fundraising event later this year.

They were busy explaining to passers-bay at the Crowngate shopping centre about the women-only race events, which raise money for Cancer Research UK's fight against the disease.

This year there is a choice of three events: the the Pretty Muddy Worcester 5k on Saturday, July 15, and on the following day, the Worcester 5k and 10k, all at the Pitchcroft racecourse.

Michelle Layton of the Race for Life team said: "We've been getting a very good response from people saying they'll sign up or support us. It's a very popular event."

Thousands of runners flocked to a packed racecourse for last year's event, which raised an estimated £110,000.
