A GROUP of travellers has begun to leave a field next to Perdiswell Primary School in Worcester where they had set up camp.

Police this morning served them with a notice to quit the site.

A police van was parked in the field and the travellers could be seen gathering up their belongings.

A caravan left at around 1.30pm through an open gate near Nuffield Health. Another followed shortly afterwards.

However, there are still a number of cars, vans and caravans displaying Irish numberplates parked in the field.

A police spokesman said just before 1pm that the travellers are preparing to move off the site imminently.

The land is owned by Tudor Grange Academy.

A spokesman for the school said the travellers had broken a padlock to gain access to the site.

A posting on the Friends of Perdiswell Primary Facebook site on Sunday said: "Please warn everyone to approach school with caution.

"Travellers have broken in and set up camp on the field next door. They have been aggressive towards a few of us who run the kids football club from there.

"If anyone would like to add their concerns about child safety please ring 101 using reference Number 533S110617 the more people that call the quicker we may get them gone."

It is not known if they are the same travellers who were evicted from Victoria Park in Malvern on Saturday.
