WORCESTER singletons are being sought to take part in a new reality show that helps farmers and rural vets find love.

Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox, who will host 'Love in the Countryside' on BBC Two next year, has already scooped one Worcestershire recruit.

A 33-year-old farmhand with a raucous sense of humour and soft-centred charm, is already signed up to take part in the dating show.

Cox, who comes from a farming background, will match lonely people with rural-based jobs with unattached town and city residents looking for romance.

Sara Cox said: "As a farmer's daughter living in the capital, I'm really excited about uniting rural folks with people from the city.

"I can't wait to journey over hill and dale, through Britain's glorious countryside on my mission to hopefully help love blossom for the people who work the land, lovingly tend their animals but may have neglected their own hearts."

Cox will join the couples along their way as they negotiate getting to know each other, whilst the urban love seekers are grappling with wellies, the wild outdoors and woeful Wi-Fi.

BBC Entertainment commissioning editor Rachel Ashdown said: "More than a dating show Love in the Countryside shines a light on the realities of life where the land and farming is still at the heart of the daily routine. With both rural and urban singletons embarking on new experiences across this series I look forward to seeing how contributors from town and country can come together to learn from each other’s lives."
