THE head of a school that was rated inadequate by Ofsted in February says league tables show the school is one of the most improved in the county.

Bishop Perowne CE College achieved one of the top ten Progress 8 scores in Worcestershire.

The score of +0.1 was also above the average for the region and the country.

Headteacher Mark Pollard said he was delighted with the improvement shown at his school.

He said: “Our Progress 8 score of +0.1 shows that our students performed above the national average across all of their subjects."

"There were large increases in English and maths pass rates and more than a quarter of all grades were A/A* or 7, or better, which is testament to the hard work our team puts in to ensuring our students reach their full potential.

“It also underlines our belief that the result of an Ofsted inspection earlier in the year was very much based on the past.

"Over the last three years we’ve made extensive changes to enhance learning.

"The improvement in outcomes that we always knew was coming wasn’t recognised during the inspection, however the improvement can clearly be seen in the 2017 exam results.”
