CROWDS flocked to the city centre today to watch the arrival of Father Christmas, who had swapped his traditional reindeer-pulled sleigh for a bright red vintage Chevrolet.

Families with children of all ages filled the High Street from 12.30pm to see Santa cruise over to his grotto in Crowngate shopping centre.

Along the way, he got out to high-five fans and pose for selfies, while festive tunes played from his car radio.

Joining Santa for his lap of honour were Powick brothers Josh and Logan Loader, who were selected as part of a Crowngate and Worcester BID initiative.

Josh, 18, has Dravet syndrome – a severe form of epilepsy – and has been supported by Acorn's Children’s Hospice since it opened 12 years ago.

Alongside nine-year-old brother Logan they were both kitted out with new complimentary outfits from Worcester Debenhams on Thursday in preparation for the big day.

Logan rode on the backseat of the vintage motor – named Barbara Ann – with mum Bev, while Josh was specially escorted ahead in his wheelchair by Santa’s two glamorous elves, Jenna Catton and Kara Aston, and his nan Joan.

Saint Nick can be visited in his grotto from 10.30am-4pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December, and until 4pm on Christmas Eve.

He will also be hosting a number of free workshops for children.
